The therapeutic potential of natural ingredients is recognized both by the scientific community and humanity. In addition, the use of food supplements contributes to a balanced diet, as they can help to prevent nutritional deficiencies or to improve health conditions. These facts led to the inspiration of GOLD project. The primary intention of GOLD is the development of innovative food supplements with the combined effect of bioactive extracts from plants of Greek biodiversity. In particular, extracts of olive leaves (Olea europaea), grapes (Vitis vinifera) of the Cretaceous variety Kotsifali and dictamnus (Origanum dictamnus) are to be utilized. Power Health, a Greek leader company in the field of natural products, is going to cooperate with Cretan HerbalChem, which is a Cretan herbal extract company to implement the project. The participation and guidance of the Pharmacy Faculty which belongs to the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens guarantees that GOLD (Grape, OLive, Dittany) is going to achieve its goal. The main goal is the development of new supplements focusing on improving the health of cardiovascular and immune system. The innovation of the project is based on the use of extracts from organically grown plants of Crete.
